The Powicana vineyard is located in Mendocino county perched just above Lake Mendocino with vines planted in the early 90's.
Volcanic soils
The vineyard is certified organic and employs Biodynamic farming methods as well.
The grapes were carefully sorted and place in concrete vats without destemming or sulfur. Fermentation occurred naturally after a few days, and we punched down a few times a day with one délestage towards the beginning of the ferment. After pressing, the wine was settled and moved to barrel for malolactic fermentation.
The wine was aged for10 months in neutral oak with the only sulfur addition occurring at bottling.
