- From the Scar of the Sea guys Both vineyards are located in Avila Beach, just 1.2 miles from the Pacific Ocean and are both farmed practicing organic by our good friend Ben Taylor. The grapes are foot tread and soaked on skins for 4 or 5 hours before being whole bunch pressed. The juice is fermented with native yeast in old French oak barrels. The wine is aged for 8 months, and bottled without fining or filtering.""
