Eight thousand years ago, humans somewhere in the Caucuses crushed grapes and let the juice run into buried clay. When they unearthed it nine months later, wine was born. Soon, Phoenecians were taking it across the Middle Sea, Romans were adding saltwater and lead, and it was being used to treat wounds and deliver divine inspiration. From piquette and monkish co-fermentations to amphorae and fortification, we’ll taste three wines that take us on a tour of wine’s ancient past, and find some inspiration for its future, too.
Each class kit serves 1-5 drinkers and includes three bottles of wine, food pairing and service suggestions, a weekly playlist, and a link to an hour and 20 minute remote wine tasting with sommelier JAMES SLIGH.
