With its emergence in the first decades of the 21st century as wine’s biggest new luxury commodity, it can be weirdly hard to hold on to the idea of Burgundy being an expression of a person farming a living soil. The price of land, and of bottles, puts a lot of pressure on the people trying to embrace minimalism in the vineyard and in the cellar. Nevertheless, there are growers who, when I’m lucky enough to taste them, return me to Burgundy’s roots. We’ll taste three wines made by farmers that deliver on the promise of this region.
Each class kit serves 1-5 drinkers and includes three bottles of wine, food pairing and service suggestions, a weekly playlist, and a link to an hour and 20 minute remote wine tasting with sommelier JAMES SLIGH.
Orders for summer sessions will be shipped in June to beat the summer heat! Registrations close Monday, June 14. Participants will receive options for tasting dates on or around the third weekend of July, or a recording for later enjoyment. James will send a pre-class note with the link and pairings 48 hours before the tasting.
