A Bottle We Love: Boucard 'Nom de Zeus'
Biodynamic Loire Cab Franc at its most pure and juicy – for just $19.

WHAT'S IN THE BOTTLE:
100% biodynamic Cabernet Franc from Bourgueil, a commune in the Loire Valley that's synonymous with the grape (which locally, is called Breton). A cooler pocket with limestone and sandy soils, the wines here can be both voluminous and lifted. This bottle doubles down on the latter: fermented whole cluster with semi-carbonic maceration, aged briefly in concrete with a kiss of sulfur added at bottling to help it across the pond. The result is refreshingly juicy, pleasantly herbaceous.
It's a fresher approach by the newest generation at Lamé Delisle Boucard, one of the region's historic domaines established in the late 19th century. Theirs is a quintessential Loire Valley operation, whose sprawling underground caves are dotted with more than a century's worth of back vintages.
WHY WE DIG IT:
It can't be overstated how cool it is to put this on the shelf for under $20: biodynamic, from a historic producer, and so perfectly delicious.
HOW WE'RE DRINKING IT:
This bottle has major spent-the-day-in-the-garden vibes; it's also a perfect accompaniment to your weeknight roast chicken and salad.
