Never too late for (Yann Bertrand's) Nouveau...

A BOTTLE WE LOVE
YANN BERTRAND's P'TIT BOUCHON

WHAT'S IN THE BOTTLE

100% certified organic Gamay, from the granite and clay soils of Beaujeu (yes, the capital of Beaujolais!). This is Yann Bertrand's 2025 Beaujolais Primeur (aka Nouveau), vinified with 8 days of cold carbonic maceration, 6 weeks of age in old barrels, and absolutely zero sulfur. It was bottled on November 12; but given a proper (and purposeful) rest, arriving stateside just this month.

It's kind of a big deal: Yann has not made a Nouveau since 2019 and when he has, it's never been exported. This fruit would normally make it into his 'Oh!' Beaujolais Superior; but frost and hail prevailed in '25, and what remained in the vineyard was made into this special, delicious peek at the vintage.

WHO MAKES IT

Yann Bertrand: an extraordinarily talented young winemaker who leads the region's new guard with old-school, visceral expressions of several Beaujolais Crus. He makes a staggering number of cuvées, each distinct in their expression and made with varying degrees of carbonic maceration and a wide range of vessels. Pure Beaujolais.

WHY WE LOVE IT

It's an exciting (and very limited) release from a winemaker we'd trust to splash anything into our glass.

And we're not afraid to say it: the best Nouveau stand up just fine to a bit of bottle age. Yann simply did the work for us ;)

HOW WE'RE DRINKING IT

It's refreshing to have a celebratory bottle in the dog days of winter. We're drinking it with an optimistic smile (and maybe some galbi-jjim).
