2012 Cosimo Taurino Rosso Salice Salentino Riserva, Puglia, Italy
$19.99
This wine is composed of 90% Negroamaro and 10% Malvasia Nera, sourced from 15 to 20-year-old vines planted at an elevation of 100 meters above sea level. The grapes are harvested together and undergo co-fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration take place over 10 to 15 days. The wine is then aged for 4 to 6 months in used, medium-toast French oak barrels that are at least two years old. The winery, Cosimo Taurino, is a family-run estate in Puglia's Salento region, with a winemaking heritage spanning seven generations. They are dedicated to traditional practices, focusing on native grape varieties like Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera to express the unique terroir of Salento.
