 Athanasiou Winery is located in the largest Protective Designation of Origin wine region of Greece, the historical NEMEA. The unique region’s terroir along with technical expertise which stems from the continuous 2600 years of wine production in NEMEA, provide us with the ability of creating premium and distinctive wines at every vintage.  

Since 2007 where the latest family's generation create a modern winery, made significant breakthroughs for the region such as the creation of the first Low intervention PDO NEMEA after 8 years of expiriments and the first Methode traditionnelle sparkling wine made in the region of Nemea with 4 years of maturation and all of them by the indigenous regional grape variety Agiorgitiko. 

 

Athanasiou family is viticulturally involved in Nemea since 1855, when the great-grandfather had merely a 0.5 hectare vineyard, planted with the Agiorgitiko grape variety. The most multilateral native Greek red grape variety.

In our vineyards we cultivate Agiorgitiko, Assyrtiko and Moschofilero grape varieties from which we create different and unique wine styles.
