2021 Jess Miller 'LBJ' Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, USA
$37.99
The 2021 (LBJ) is a whole-cluster, partial carbonic red Pinot Noir from Hollow Oak Acres, a high-altitude vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains AVA of the Willamette Valley. The origin story: Planted in 2009, Hollow Oak acres has had a tumultuous past. It was planted by the former Maysara vineyard manager, who brought his biodynamic practices with him.The vineyard has been farmed organically except for 1 year gap in 2017. I started farming it in 2020, right before the pandemic began. The owner, Jerry Drake and I knew each other through fellow farmers- and when I went to look at it I realized it was a site with energy- and had weathered a conversion to no-till without dropping vigor. This label is an homage/ take on the Ganevat wine âJâen veuxâ Light and nuanced, with lots of red berry fruit, medium acidity and a lengthy finish. - from the importer
