2022 Domaine Gardies, Cotes du Roussillon Mas Las Cabes France

This organically farmed cuvée comes from the Mas Las Cabes vineyard near Espira-de-l’Agly, where friable black-schist soils and Mediterranean winds shape a ripe yet nervy profile. The blend is Syrah (60%), Grenache Noir (30%), and Carignan (10%). Fermentation is carried out with native yeasts, with a 20–25 day maceration in concrete; élevage follows for about eight months, split between one-third barrels and two-thirds concrete to preserve fruit and supple structure.
The 2022 is smooth and generous, showing wild berries, violet, a hint of liquorice and black olive, with soft tannins and a fresh, mineral finish.
