2022 Natus Branco, Alentejo, Portugal
$48.00
The vineyards that produced this wine are planted in the heart of Vidigueira, at the southern foot of the Serra do Mendro, on schist soils with sandy loam and loam textures . The traditional grape varieties, mainly Roupeiro, Antão Vaz and Gouveio, were hand-picked and trodden by foot in a wine press for 2 days. When fermentation began spontaneously, the grapes were pressed and the must was stored in traditional amphorae and used oak barrels until the end of alcoholic fermentation. The 8-month aging period was carried out in the fermentation barrels, attested by the amphorae, on total lees, with light stirring every month.
After decanting, we bottle an unstabilized wine, with light filtration.
Tasting Notes
Lemon colour, with green highlights. Complex citrus aroma with typical notes of stone fruit and white pulp. In the mouth, it has the presence and reactivity of tannins from partial fermentation, which give it freshness and texture. Harmonious, dense and broad, it calls for rich dishes on the table in winter, and long, warm nights in summer.
