Far Mountain the personal work of biodynamic consultants Rodrigo Soto and Mai Errazuriz, rooted in the high elevation, dry farmed sites of Sonoma’s isolated Moon Mountain AVA. ‘Fission’ comes from their parcel in Alta-Vista, a historic vineyard planted in the 1930s with now-rare terraces of vines that follow the natural contour of the mountainside. This is Cabernet at its boldest, with dense, inky fruit and a bit of new oak; but the volcanic basalt and 2200 ft elevation here keep the wine lifted, a raw expression of the site.
