VARIETAL: 50% Merlot, 40% Mourvedre, 10% Grenache
ORGANIC: Practicing
VINEYARD: From family vineyards in the villages of Puéchabon and Aniane. Blend of 50% Merlot (35 yr old vines), 40% Mourvedre (10 yr old vines), 10% Grenache (40 yr old vines).
SOIL: Glacial limestone, gravelly clay topsoils
VITICULTURE:Organically farmed by hand, including green harvesting. Recently began the embrace of the regenerative practices of year round cover crops and low-/no-till. All grapes hand harvested, transported in baskets and destemmed.
VINIFICATION:Fermentation in tank, pump overs (according to tasting) during the three week cuvaison.
AGING:Aged in tank
NOTES:A transporting southern French red with aromas of red berries and endless freshness on the palate. The Mourvedre is massale selection from Xavier Peyraud's family vines at Domaine Tempier in Bandol. This cuvee takes it's name from the hunters -- les chasseurs" -- who surveille the merlot plot in the summer months in search of wild game."
