2022 Insula Vinus Chao de Lava aa Branco Azores, Portugal

The Chão de Lava is a blend of traditional varieties of the Azores, mostly Arinto dos Açores and Verdelho, but also small quantities of other things from older field blended vineyards such as Maria Gomes and Boal. The fruit comes from both Paulo's vineyards on the southern side of the mountain in São Mateus and from old vines along the western coast in Crioção Velha. Fermented and aged “sur lies” in small horizontal stainless steel tanks for about one year.
