2024 Weingut Markus Altenburger Paradiesgarten, Burgenland, Austria

$120.00

From Markus: “We let nature take control of this plot on a historical vineyard site and are rewarded with an unseen level of biodiversity and balance.”

Grape: Blaufränkisch

Vineyard: 50-year-old vines in a plot called “Paradiesgarten,” for which this cuvée is named. Located in the Cru of Jungenberg, an 800-year-old vineyard site. Markus farms the plot entirely without tractors or machinery, letting indigenous wild cover-crops grow amongst the vines.

Making of (2024): Grapes are hand-harvested and left to macerate for 3 weeks, all as whole clusters, in Amphora and small ceramic Clayver. After pressing, the wine ages another 12 months in the same vessels before bottling in October.
