Maison Valette Macon Chaintre Vieilles Vignes Burgundy, France (19-21)
$65.00
Philippe is known as one of the godfathers of natural winemaking, especially in the Mâcon. He is widely respected for his knowledge of vine biology and his wines are featured on many of the great wine lists of France, Northern Europe, and now, the United States too.
From old vines (about 60–65 years) in Chaintré on clay-limestone soils, farmed organically for decades. Fermentations proceed with native yeasts and no added sulfur during vinification, followed by a long élevage—often around two to three years—mostly in older barrels with a portion in tank, and bottling without fining or filtration. Always non vintage - blend the 21 & 19 vintage in this release. The result is a concentrated yet tensile Mâconnais white that marries ripe orchard fruit and hazelnut tones to saline, mineral drive
