In 1999, Agnès Paquet decided to take over 3ha of family vineyards in Auxey-Duresses. More specifically, the vineyards are in the hamlet of Melin, next to the château on the seldom-trafficked road between Meursault and Saint-Aubin. Her family had been renting the vines, and when they decided to sell, she decided it was important to keep that patrimoine, so she renovated an old stone barn next to her home into a winery and began her second career as a vigneronne. Hidden just up the road from Meursault, Auxey-Duresses remains a relatively unknown appellation, producing fine Chardonnay and Pinot Noir typical of Burgundy. When you pass through, be sure to stop at the small church, which is one of the prettiest in the area. About half of the domaine is split between Auxey-Duresses red and white. The remainder is composed of other vineyards she has acquired over the last decade: small parcels in Pommard, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Saint-Aubin, plus some larger and very scenic plots of Bourgogne Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the Haute-Côte near the winery in Meloisey.
