The malbec vines for this wine come from two vineyards. One is in Agrelo and planted in 1927 at 5.000 plants per hectare. The second is in Lunlunta and was planted in 1915 with a density of 4,600 plants per hectare.The Agrelo vineyard is at 1100 meters and the Lunlunta vineyard is at 759 meters. North/South orientation. Calcareous based clay soils.Flood irrigation, low trellis techniques, hand harvested.
The wine ferments in stainless steel tanks for 14 days, at a temperature of approximately 77 °F. The maceration lasts for 10 more days. Use of indigenous yeasts for fermentation, in order to accentuate and individualize the terroir characteristics. The aging takes place in 2,500 to 5,000 liter French Nancy oak vats for a period of at least 6 months.
