2023 Wills Wine Côtes du Rhône, France

A returning cuvée, first produced in 2020. Fruit was purchased from the same sites as before, one being Syrah (10yo) planted on a clay/limestone terrace backing onto forest as the foothills of Seguret. The other site for the Grenache and Cinsault (60yo), a more ‘classical’ southern terroir; on the flats below the Syrah. Galets roulés, with deep clay. Vinified whole-bunch in a concrete tank. A low and slow ferment, with a gentle maceration. Ageing in 8yo demi-muids. A midweek wine, or easy drinker at a local bistro.
