This is the estate’s signature monopole: a walled 2.15 ha parcel that has preserved its size since the 16th century. Rooted in chalky, white marl soils on steep, southeast-facing slopes, Clos des Ducs combines limestone clarity with clay-structured complexity. It’s the only parcel of its kind—and one of Burgundy’s most storied single-vineyard sites.

Under Guillaume d’Angerville, the farming has gone fully biodynamic since 2006, and vinification emphasizes precision: hand-harvested Pinot Noir is fully destemmed, fermented with native yeasts, gently extracted (no punch‑downs), and aged 15–18 months in old French oak barrels (typically just over 20% new) before bottling unfined and unfiltered. Sulfur use remains minimal.

The 2006 vintage shows its age gracefully—focused aromatics of rose petal, red currant, and subtle earth; integrated spice and iron; a lingering saline finish. Cooler site elevation and late picking give it freshness and tension even at nearly 20 years old. Despite vintage variability across the Côte de Beaune, this Clos des Ducs has maintained poise and elegance well into maturity.
