2021 La Grange de l'Oncle Charles La Danse Des Corbeaux
$55.00
The 2021 La Danse des Corbeaux (translated as "dance of the crows") is a superb village wine from Riquewihr that doesn't just blend classic grape varieties, such as co-fermented Riesling, Sylvaner, Chasselas, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris, but also soils like marl and sandstone. The vines selected for this assemblage are between 50 and 90 years old and the musts were vinified on the full lees in barriques for one year. Bottled unfined and without the addition of SO2, the intensely yellow-golden colored and somewhat cloudy wine opens with an intensely aromatic yet coolish, pure, precise and stony nose of all kinds of citrus fruits, yellow plums (mirabelles), smoked speck, crushed stones and earthy as well as leafy and black tea notes. This is wonderfully pure and refreshing but also substantial and full of character. Round and charming yet dry, again with sustainable tea aromas, this is a medium to full-bodied, stunningly intense yet delicate and elegant white Riquewihr with texture, density and One yet vivacious mineral acidity. The wine Onishes dry, with One and spicy tannins as well as noble bitters and serious grip and salinity. 13.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from lot RIQW21 in February 2023. -
