2023 Kobayashi Syrah Sans Soufre (White Label), Washington, USA
$95.00
Syrah from WeatherEye Vineyard, located at the top of Red Mountain in eastern Yakima Valley. The Rhone varieties Travis and Mario source from WeatherEye are ungrafted, single-stake trained, and planted at high density on rocky, fractured basalt soils.. The wine was fermented with 100% whole clusters using ambient yeasts, with no sulfur added at any stage. Each cluster was individually placed into fermenting puncheons and gently hand-squeezed, with oxidation carefully avoided throughout. No punchdowns or pumpovers were performed. The wine was matured for 11-months in neutral French oak puncheons before bottling, unfined and unfiltered.
