2023 Julian Haart Rote Erden Riesling, Germany
$59.99
The parcel that was swapped with Keller for Schubertslay.
It was agreed that beginning with the 2018 vintage, Keller would manage the Schubertslay vineyard and produce wines from this site in the Mosel. In return, Julian and Nadine would get parcels in Keller's Rheinhessen: First, the Frauenberg, a marl and limestone site with red clay. The second site rolls off the tongue: "Zellerweg am Schwarzen Herrgott."
In 2022 Julian and Nadine made microscopic amounts of Grand Crus from these two single vineyards. We are sorry but we do not have these wines to offer; the production was just too low.
However, Julian and Nadine did agree to give us a good allocation of the "village-level" wine from the Rheinhessen - called "Rote Erden" in reference to the red soils here. This "RoteErden" is the declassified fruit from these two Grand Cru; this is a village-level dry Riesling only in name, as it is sourced from the two Grand Cru sites.
Wine arrives October 31st, 2024.
