2025 Semina Cortese Skin Contact Fox Hill Vineyard , Mendocino County, USA

Certified Organic. 75% Cortese & 25% Arneis. Location: Fox Hill Vineyard – Mendocino. Fox Hill sits on the Talmage Bench in Mendocino County, a distinct benchland that sits above the Russian River, about 30 miles inland from the Pacific. The warm days and cool nights here parallel conditions in Piemonte, making it a special site for the many Italian varieties grown here. Winemaking: Cortese and Arneis were hand harvested from our estate vineyard, Fox Hill, on an early morning in mid-August. The grapes arrived into our Berkeley cellar as whole clusters. We lightly foot-tread the Arneis grapes until juicy, then left the juice on skins for 7 days. It was pressed slowly to neutral French oak barrique, where it finished fermentation and aged for just over 6 months. Cortese was also foot stomped to release its juices. Skin contact was shorter, just 3 days to keep the wine lifted but with nice skin contact structure. It was pressed to stainless steel to finish fermentation and develop for 6 months. Tech: Alc: 11.78% | Free SO2: <5 ppm | Total SO2: 20 ppm. Production 280 cases.
