2022 Enderle & Moll, Pinot Noir Bunstandstein 'Ida', Baden, Germany

This is a separate parcel, also 50-60 year-old vines planted in sandstone, yet it is a separate site that they bought from a lady named Ida, thus the name. I have a sense there must be more clay here, because the wine just smells bigger, more textural – like it has more heft. This is really just outrageous; dark fruited, almost plum and melon and there is something just so dark and heady, wild and perfumed and sexy about this, wow: absolutely intoxicating. Interestingly, there is also a bit more soil and iron in the wine, a little tip of the hat to the Muschelkalk. On the palate, this is certainly the most glycerin rich, coating and widest Pinot, with bigger, plumper, rounder tannins. Still very elegant and tense, but the most tapered of them. Sorta wow honestly.
