Gaspard Brochet '333' [Pas Rose] Brut Nature, Champagne, France (2020)

$82.00

A blend of three vintages, three grape varieties and three villages, the 333d combines three warm and concentrated vintages -- 60% 2020, 20% 2019, 20% 2018. The six hour pressing of ripe grapes resulted in a rosé-hued wine. Brochet maintains that "it's pink, but not rosé!" A sizzling and concentrated blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier, the fourth release (d) of the 333 cuvée is very compelling.

Vineyards located primarily in Ecueil, along with vines in the villages of Villers aux Noeds and Sacy: all with strong emphasis on biodiversity and soil health. Biodynamically farmed since 2022. 60% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, 10% Meunier. To obtain less astringency and more material, pressing is very slow (6 hours) using a traditional 2,000-kilo wooden press. After 24 hour settling, juice goes directly into barrels (60%) and tank (40%). 11 month elevage, no malo. Barrels are never topped up, giving the wine a light exposure to oxygen. Battonage every three days, capitalizing on the lies as antioxidant and protector of the wine. Unfined and unfiltered; 20 months sur lattes; zero dosage.
