Bansìgu means see-saw and the children’s drawing on the label is indicative. A field blend of local varieties, including 70% Granaccia. The balance is Rossese, Barbera, and Cinsault with tiny amounts of other local varieties.
From south facing vineyards, near the Mediterranean, in Ortovero. The vineyard consists of poor soil, limestone-dominated sedimentary rock. Mediterranean microclimate, mitigated by the constant sea breezes. 35 year old vines.
Maceration for six days with three daily pumpovers. Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel at close to 24°. Remains in steel for 8 months, where malo is completed. Matured in bottle for at least a month.
