2024 Foradori 'Tutti I Frutti del Monte Baldo' Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy
$39.99
80% Schiava/10% Negrara/ 7% Lambrusco a Foglia Frastigliata/3% Pavana. Foradori has a new, multi-faceted project about 30 km from their Mezzolombardo estate on Monte Baldo in southern Trentino near the Veneto. This property and its vines are at a higher altitude and in a drier microclimate with more true mountain microclimate (greater extremes of solar intensity and cold temps versus in Mezzolombardo). "Tutti i Frutti" comes from a mixed planting of local black varieties, planted on clay-loam soils rich in Dolomitic limestone. The original vines are from the 1950's; the Foradoris have used cuttings from those to propagate new vines and expand the vineyard since 2020 (fruit from both young and old vines are in this bottle). The farming is biodynamic and the harvest is manual. The bunches are destemmed and spontaneously fermented in tinaja (Spanish clay amphora) with a short maceration. The wine is aged in tinaja and bottled unfiltered. The wine reads more like a rosato in color and weight than a rosso.
