2024 Icy Liu Mercurey 'Komorebi' Rouge, Cote Chalonnaise, France
$105.00
"Komorebi (pronounced ko-mo-reh-bee) is a Japanese phrase that describes the sunlight that filters through the leaves of trees. This wine, like life itself, is momentary, fleeting, and quietly luminous — a reflection of komorebi: the gentle light that filters through the trees, ephemeral yet unforgettable. Many of my favorite wines are like this: Michel Grisard’s mondeuse or the wines of Jacques Maillet." - Icy
- "Roc Blanc", Mercurey, southeast-facing, calcareous sandy marl.
- Viticulture: Purchased grapes, organic (not certified), 9,000 vines/ha, guyot trained.
- Vinification: 80-90% whole cluster, 10 ppm SO2 added before vinification, fermentation started with an ambient yeast pied de cuve of white grapes, daily wetting of the cap with a bucket, punch downs after 5-7 days, pressed after 10-14 days with a pneumatic press, aged for 8-10 months in used barrels, no fining, no filtration, 10 ppm SO2 added before bottling.
