2020 Manoir de la Tete Rouge Saumur Rouge Bagatelle, Loire, France
$18.00
This cuvée is Cabernet Franc from organic, biodynamic parcels on tuffeau limestone and clay around Puy-Notre-Dame. The fruit is hand-harvested and fully destemmed, then fermented with native yeasts in concrete and stainless steel with gentle daily pump overs and a short maceration to keep the tannins fine. Élevage is in tank to preserve freshness, and the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered with a light touch of sulfur. It is bright and precise, showing redcurrant and raspberry with violet, graphite, and a chalky lift, finishing crisp and clean—excellent slightly chilled.
