2022 Benoit Moreau Clos Saint Jean, Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, France
$295.00
I was lucky to taste this in the winery and only one barrel was made. It hasn’t been reviewed (Benoît doesn’t show it). One of the highlight, it comes from a tiny tranche of 60-year-old vines in the northern section of the vineyard, near Les Vergers. Here, the soils aren’t marked by the red clay typical of the cru, but instead show a strong presence of limestone—yielding a wine that’s deep yet mineral. Even in a generous vintage like 2022.
