1990 J.B. Becker Wallufer Berg Bildstock Riesling Spatlese Trocken, Rheingau, Germany
$65.00
This golden, powerfully dry wine has arrived from the estate as a libary wine. From vines planted on stony, gravelly soils of the Wallufer Berg “Bildstock” slope (southern Rheingau), the 1990 vintage was hand-harvested at Spätlese ripeness before pressing and slow fermentation to dryness. The must was fermented with indigenous yeasts, matured on its lees in large German oak casks for about 10–12 months before bottling.

A Trip to Germany
In July I went to Germany for the first time, spending almost the entire trip in the Mosel – seeing places I’ve only read about, connecting familiar faces to their home turf and, celebrating 10 years of inspired work by importer vom Boden.
With a swath of German new arrivals landing, too, it felt like a good time to reflect on the 2022 vintage, share some takeaways from the trip and share details on our next in-person event. - Chris
