Loreline Laborde moved to Jura from Montpellier to take advantage of a wine region whose low rents and ideological adherence to traditional methods are attractive to a young winemaker as herself. For her, Jura was the perfect place to pursue a simple farm life (complete with chickens, a horse and her vegetable gardens), apart from the hubbub of Burgundy, Bordeaux and the Rhône where she studied wine-making. Working with a traditional Jura line-up of Savagnin, Poulsard, Trousseau and Chardonnay, Loreline employs a pure and rustic approach to winemaking, working everything with her hands and her horse at the utmost respect for nature. Loreline has a mere 3.5 hectares total, acquired piece by piece in 2010, '11, '12' 13, etc, and continuing to work hard to acquire what little she can each year. She has been working Biodynamically since her beginning. Three of the cuvées: Brut Crémant du Jura (all Chardonnay), Chardonnay La Mamette (a wine that shows more mineral than most Jura Chardonnays, from an ancient indigenous variety of Chardonnay) and its Savagnin La Pierre (a true treat of a wine; rich, round and full of minerality).
