This is the Grand Cru sites with what I think is the greatest name out there – pronounced “Froooh-lings-PLATS-shen.” Go ahead and say it, it’ll make you feel good. It translates to “a little place of spring” and indeed the wine has a very pronounced florality, even in youth. This bottling is often thought of as a bit leaner and lighter as well as a bit fruitier and more floral – more evocative in youth – than the rather staid and serious Halenberg
