The 2023 Grand Cru Florimont Katzenthal Riesling comes from a south-facing site with clay and active limestone soils with fossilized remains, where Boxler owns no more than 0.3 hectares of three-, 35- and 60+-year-old vines that yielded only 16 hectoliters per hectare that year. This is the first release for the young couple. The wine shows a clear, bright and dense bouquet of fleshy yellow fruits and starts enormously saline and zesty on the charming palate before it becomes dense and juicy, showing stone fruit and pineapple flavors and an intense, full-bodied finish with stimulating grapefruit bitters. Tasted as a sample in April 2024. The wine was set to be bottled later that month but will not be released until September 2025. - Stephan Reinhardt
