80% old vine Grenache, 10% Syrah,10% Mourvedre
Sourced from a selection of very old vines situated in the lieu-dit of La Crau in the northeast of the appellation. Deep clay soil that is rich in iron. It is theorized that there is a year’s moisture stored in the stones beneath the great plateau parcel of La Crau. Vines are sustainably farmed with focus on yield control and terroir expression. Grapes are picked by hand into small crates.
After de-stemming, grapes are gravity-fed into 10,000 liter concrete vats where they are immediately cooled to avoid early fermentation. During fermentation, each vat is stirred once to twice daily. Wines are left to macerate for 20-30 days.
Aged in neutral oak foudres for 18 months.

Planted just after the phylloxera outbreak of 1866, this parcel was named by their father for their paternal grandmother, Marie-Louise Mayard. Having not known their grandmother, sisters Françoise and Béatrice decided to pay homage to her by also naming this cuvée after her. The wine has a complex floral bouquet and intense dark fruit flavors on the palate.
