Jonas Dostert, "Rochus #23/1" Cremant, Mosel, Germany (2023)
$55.00
23/1 ie 2023s first disgorgement as Jonas is now letting longer lees aging happen with small lots and releasing later disgorgements.
By now you know the code - this is the first disgorgement of the 2023 vintage. Yet there are other changes here. As Jonas says, "This Crémant represents the logical future development of the Rochus Crémant concept. From now on, this wine will consist of one third each of Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Elbling, sourced from three different plots within the Rochusfels site near the Rochus Chapel." The point here is both the new trilogy of grapes, expanded to include Pinot Gris, but also the focus on the plots that surround the Rochus chapel. These are his highest-altitude plots, among his coolest vineyards, and he wants, more than anything, to focus more and more sharply on the various plots and to do less and less blending.- vB
