2023 Yann Bertrand Fleurie Vieilles Vignes, Beaujolais, France
$55.99
Certified Organic and Biodynamic. 100% Gamay from a 2 hectare plot of 60+ year old vines grown in pink granite sand soils - called Arene Granitique. This cuvée is aged for longer in used barrels, then held back for an additional year before release. Bertrand calls this a ‘particularly fragile’ parcel in the Grand Pré vineyard, with very acidic and sandy soils. Something of the flagship wine at the Bertrands’. Carbonic maceration with native yeast and no SO2 or other additions for 17-20 days. 12+ month ageing in used 225-liter barrels (at least 4 years old). Racked and bottled by gravity. Unfined, unfiltered and bottled without additional SO2.
