2000 Joao Pato (Luis Pato) Cabernet Sauvignon, Bairrada, Portugal
$48.00
While Joao Pato himself (Luis’ father) stopped making wine in the early 1980s, Luis kept his father’s brand going, especially when he wanted to experiment with non-Portuguese grape varieties. This is a one off bottling of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, grown on chalky clay soils in Bairrada. It spent two years in a combination of new and used french oak casks before bottling. High toned, brightly red fruited, salty, and still vibrantly alive. Classic old school Cabernet, but with an Atlantic twist.
