2017 Claude Courtois Les Cailloux du Paradis 'Cuvee des Etourneaux' Loire, Vin de France
Etourneaux means starlings in French, referring to the birds that ate the entire harvest in 2001. The parcel is surrounded by fruit trees, creating a living ecosystem with beautiful biodiversity. Gamay de chaudenay (a very rare form of gamay that is semi-tenturier, ie red juiced) and gamay jus blanc (direct press white juice from gamay). The grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed, and gently pressed. Aged for 30 months in old barrels and one year in bottle. No fining, no filtration, without added sulfites.
