Vineyard Notes: The grapes are sourced from estate vineyards: primarily Istine, Casanova, and Cavarchione, along with Tibuca and Le Noci. The vineyards are located on different hillsides in Radda and Gaiole in Chianti. The vineyards are all guyot trained and 1640 feet a.s.l.. The soil here is rich, with alternating marly limestones (Alberese and Galestro) and variable percentages of clay. Sangiovese fruit is harvested by hand.
Winemaking Notes: Maceration lasts for 3-8 weeks in stainless steel. Malolactic fermentation occurs partly in stainless steel and partly in concrete. Istine's Chianti Classico spends 12 months in Slavonian oak casks and barrels and is partially aged in concrete tanks.
