2019 Monte Bernardi 'MB1933' Chianti Classico DOCG, Italy
$33.00
A new wine from Monte Bernardi 'MB1933' - it's from a new vineyard on the north side of Panzano that he recently purchased. I visited Michael Schmelzer (last international trip in the before-times) and he was excited about the site: higher in elevation then his immediate estate and with vines going back to the 1930s. Its an old school vineyard which means A. it wad farmed conventionally but hes getting it back online with his hyper philosophy of organic farming (hes Bio and Panazano is the only subzone which requires all DOCG wines to be organically farmed) and. B. its co-planted to a mash other different varietals which he's still identifying. The bottling is a proper field blend and is grippy, red fruited addition to his lineup. - Chris
