A wine resulting from Stefanie and Alwin‘s enthusiasm and deep connection to French wines. Their great passion for the Chenin Blanc grape variety developed during their student days and was further deepened during countless trips through France and visits to winemaker friends in the Loire region. Anyone who loves minerality, lively acidity and freshness will fall in love with Chenin Blanc. So did Stefanie and Alwin. Deeply rooted in the shimmering mica schist of the Loiserberg, Chenin Blanc can perfectly handle warm and dry conditions. The grape variety was re-grafted into an existing old vineyard and this process allows the variety to enjoy the great advantages of the deep, established root system. The experience we have gained with this grape variety is invaluable. As always, the vines set the pace. We had to feel our way, build a relationship and get to know the variety. It was a bit like learning a new language or a new instrument. How does the grape variety react? What kind of pruning does it need? These are all questions whose answers we have discovered and learned over the last few years, giving us a wealth of experience for future projects.

2019 was a vintage with almost ideal conditions. After a mild and dry winter, low temperatures in May slowed growth, while occasional rain showers provided the soil with sufficient water. After a hot June, the summer was warm but never extreme, allowing both vines and grapes to develop steadily. The grape found their perfect balance, which is reflected in vibrant wines that are shaped by their terroir.

The grapes were harvested by hand and gently pressed as whole bunches before being fermented spontaneously. After more than two years on the lees in used Austrian oak barrels, the wine was bottled unfiltered and then matured in the bottle at the
winery for several years.
