This Syrah is from Charles Heintz’ vineyard in Occidental, a cool site at the extremes of ripening Syrah in western Sonoma county. Charlie Heintz farms this block of traditional clones and massale selections organically.
Fruit was fermented whole cluster in a concrete tank for 16 days with very light and gentle foot treading. It was pressed at dryness and the free run was stored in large, neutral barrels for élevage. Malolactic proceeded naturally.
