2020 Domaine Belargus Anjou Treilles, Loire, France
$235.00
Pure Chenin Blanc from the 2.72 hectare monopole of the Coteau des Treilles. The “Côte-Rôtie” of the Loire was abandoned after WWII because of the steep slopes (up to 70%) and remoteness of inside what is now Pont Barré Natural Reserve. The soil is a mashup of geological chaos including magmatic rocks, schist, puddingstone, and the oldest limestone in the Loire. Aged for 18 months in barrel before bottling. Famously revived by Jo Pithon and the source of some of his top wines.
