2020 La Ciguapa, Orange Wine, Finger Lakes, New York

34% Riesling, 33% Aromella, 33% NY81.

Aromella and NY81 were foot-stomped whole-cluster and gently punched down by hand for 13 days on the skin awaiting the ripening of the riesling that was still on the vine. At the two week mark, the riesling was sorted in the
vineyard and again at the winery, destemmed and directly pressed off with the hybrids. A small amount of sulfur was added (15ppm) before the wine was barreled in neutral French oak for fermentation. After 6 months and seeing full malolactic fermentation, La Ciguapa was racked via gravity into stainless steel for three months before being bottled in summer of 2021.

La Ciguapa 2020 is the first vintage from NY sommelier Nicolle Borrero. It was produced at Wild Arc Farm, an experimental and regenerative wine farm located in Pinebush, NY (Hudson Valley).
