Laredot's Rieslings are all bottled under landwein and thus not able to have vineyard designations. The Mönch or Monk is from Sankt-Aldegunder Klosterkammer, a vineyard that Phil took over from Ulli Stein. Klosterkammer is a Church Room, and thus you have the Monk. It is more red slated/sandstone and clay, thus the vineyard has more water retention. This is the first vintage and the wine in tasting in July was superb - spice and red fruited aromatics and really open out of the gate.
