2021 Far Mountain Fission Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma Valley, USA
$55.00
This is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Alta Vista (Gold Ranch) Vineyard high on Moon Mountain, a heritage site of dry-farmed vines planted in the early 1970s on St. George rootstock and head-trained on rocky, volcanic slopes. Élevage is deliberately restrained: about one year in French oak (about 35% new) with no racking until the final blend, preserving the vineyard’s dark, mineral profile. The wine is taut and savory—blackcurrant and wild mountain berries with bay, cedar and a graphite/iron edge—framed by firm, fine tannins and a long, stony finish.
