2021 La Porte Saint Jean (Sylvain Dittiere) Saumur Rouge 'Les Pouches', Loire, France
$63.00
Sylvain acquired Les Pouches parcel in 2016. The Cabernet Franc is situated at the bottom of the slopes up to the middle of it and then it’s Chenin Blanc. The soil is made of silt and clay/sand on top of tuffeau from the middle of the Turonian period. The vines are 50% 70 years old and 50% 20 years old and they are located just outside the village of Montreuil-Bellay. As for the winemaking, several weeks of maceration in concrete, all destemmed. The aging took place in barrique of 1-2-3 years old barrels and 20% new for 2 years, and only 2g/hl of So2 was added prior bottling
