Unfortunately, the vineyard because of its location and age was torn up after vintage 2021, and thus these are the last drops from its 70 year old history..planted above Himmelreich in Sankt Aldegund, this wine exudes tangerine oils and incisive lean, cutting acids overlayed. 

Ewald was born in 1937, and planted this very special Elbling vineyard in the year Ulli was born, 1951 with his Uncle. Ewald, now 85, still tends to around 2ha of vineyards throughout the year. After luckily spending harvest of 2020 with Ewald, I can say he truly is from another era, still climbing the steep slopes and living a simple life in the vineyards and heading home at night to have dinner with his wife. He himself built many of the stone terraced walls in Sankt Aldegund, each rock having to be placed by hand, carried uphill etc. With Ewald's permission Ulli made the old vine Elbling wine in 2019, and thus this will be the second release from this very special place. The vineyard is located on a curious flat parcel on the top of hillsides Sankt Aldegunder Himmelreich. One 500l barrel is produced - vb
